I have practised civil litigation since 1982, and throughout that time have devoted a significant amount of my energy to the practice of family law. My broad experience, particularly in commercial disputes, is of assistance in dealing with cases of financial complexity, involving issues of characterization and valuation of assets. I am an experienced negotiator, and see collaborative family law as an important and useful process to help families going through separation do so constructively, as they adapt to new domestic, social and financial arrangements.

I am a former chair of the Victoria Family Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. I have served on the federal Department of Justice Advisory Committee on the implementation of the Child Support Guidelines. I am a contributing author and lecturer for the British Columbia Continuing Legal Education Society in the area of family law.

I am married, with two adult children. I am active in the community, serving on the board of Victoria Crime Stoppers Association continuously since 1986. I am a former President of the Board of Trustees of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
