Colloborative Family Law — Victoria, BC

I believe that family is the fundamental building block of society. It is a powerful influence over who we are as individuals and how we act in the world. When families change because of separation and divorce, they often need help as they establish new relationships with each other. I am committed to the collaborative family law model because it supports critical aspects of family transition, - emotional and financial aspects, - which litigation on its own can make worse. I serve my clients as a calming, respectful, and rational guide, helping them sort out their new legal relationships within the family. My family law practice is informed on a daily basis, not only from the study of law, but also from my experiences as a wife and mother.

I practice family law in Sidney and the Gulf Islands. I have spent most of my legal career dedicated to family law, including work as a family law policy analyst with the Ministry of Attorney General and as legal counsel with the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program. In 2003, I joined the firm of McKimm and Lott to work more directly with clients and exclusively as a family lawyer. I come to collaborative family law with mediation and collaborative law training from the bar and a certificate in conflict resolution form the Justice Institute.
